Phoenix to Grand Canyon Routes

Looking for Phoenix to Grand Canyon routes? You don't have to look very far. If you're driving straight to the Grand Canyon (or Flagstaff for that matter) from Phoenix, there's only one way to go.

From sky Harbor international Airport, go east on E Sky Harbor Boulevard.

After about 2 miles you'll get on I-10 west, then in about 5 miles, take I-17 North towards Flagstaff.

After 140 miles take the exit for I-40 West at Flagstaff.

Drive on I-40 West for about 30 miles, then head north on Arizona Highway 64 towards the Grand Canyon. In about 55 miles, you're almost there. Just keep going and follow the signs into the park.

On the straight route, you can stop by Montezuma Castle or Montezuma Well (this is a nice hike to stretch your legs before getting back in the car).

If you'd rather wander up from Phoenix, while seeing what there is to see in central Arizona on the way, here are a couple of alternate Phoenix to Grand Canyon routes.

Scenic Phoenix to Grand Canyon Routes

If you want to go through Sedona, or maybe stay the night before you head on up to the canyon, just hit 179 N (north of Camp Verde off of I-17 North).

Or you can head on over to Prescott by taking 69 North at Cordes Junction. As you head north from here (on Highway 89), you will hit I-40 on the West side of Williams. Take I40 East for about 20 miles to Williams, then head north on Highway 64 and drive the 55 miles to the Grand Canyon.
